Warning!!Cheaters around the Restaurant

Warning!!

Yesterday, our Australian friend Lucy told us her bad experience several days before. Personally, we feel so angry about it and we hope we could warn everyone to stay away from this kind of nasty behavior.

Lucy also told us she would contact Intouch Zhejiang and More Hangzhou. I hope she has already done this, and if she has not, I really hope Tim and Rebecca would be so patient to finish reading this story and forgive my poor English.

Time: Sunday lunch time (May 15)

Place: Crystal Jade Garden Restaurant in Xihu Tiandi

People involved: Lucy, Her Husband Noel, their son, the waiter and the manager of the restaurant, the NASTY Cheater

The Story:

Lucy and Noel and their son decided to go to the Crystal Jade Garden Restaurant in Xihu Tiandi for their lunch on Sunday (May 15). They had some meals there before, although they felt the price there is a little dear, but as the food is all right, they just went again.

As soon as they found their seats in the restaurant, the waiter went to them. Of course, the waiter can not speak a word of English and they could not speak Chinese. (It happened before. They could point the menu and order. Sometimes, the restaurant manager would come and translate.)

It looked quite like what had happened last time. A man in a suit with a tie showed up just in time. And this man helped them to communicate with the waiter and order food. Lucy and her family did not doubt anything about it. They thought some manager of the restaurant came again to help them out. As the restaurant was doing something right for their customers, it was just fine.

They got their dishes, and started to eat. The man in a suit came again and asked them whether the food is nice. He even offered them a name card of the restaurant and telling them next time they could receive a 5% discount. After a while, the man came back again and told Lucy what they should pay for the meal was RMB 175. Lucy gave RMB 200 to him. The man took the money and disappeared.

They felt a bit strange that the man did not return with the change, but they guessed he might take the RMB 25 as the tip—as he really did some translation.

When they were about to leave, the waiter stopped them. “You have not paid for your lunch”. Lucy said “yes, we have. We have paid it to your manager”. Then the manager came – he is not the one who translated and took the money.

Of course, Lucy and her family were angry. But the waiter said: “he told me he is your guide.” And the manager said: “this kind of things happened all the time, but you still have to pay….”

What I would like to comment here is as the follows:

1)     This man is very experienced in working with (or Cheating) expats. He will definitely do it again. Be Careful!

2)     Pay to the waiter directly or even pay it to the counter and get the receipt right away.

3)     If this is happening all the time in the Crystal Jade Restaurant (as what the manager was talking about) and they are not doing anything to stop it, will you think twice before you decide to go?

Please let us know what you think of it.
